Academic Seminar ‘The Kingdom of Man and the Isles – from 1000AD to 1300AD’

Stories from the Forgotten Kingdom will continue as we present a series of short lectures within an academic seminar entitled ‘The Kingdom of Man and the Isles- from 1000AD to 1300AD’.

‘The lost centuries – Man, Scandinavia and Ireland’, will be presented by Sir David Wilson who will discuss archaeological artefacts from the Island including recent discoveries, dating from the 11^th and 12^th centuries.  Dr Peter Davey will follow with his presentation ‘The lost centuries – the English connection’?’,  focusing on the kingdom’s international relations, particularly from the mid-12^th to the end of the 13^th century.  Manx National Heritage’s Curator of Field Archaeology Andrew Johnson will conclude the seminar by presenting some of the results of his recent upland survey work in a talk entitled, ‘Lost kingdom, lost landscapes?’.
