Stories from the Forgotten Kingdom will continue as we present a series of short lectures within an academic seminar entitled ‘The Kingdom of Man and the Isles- from 1000AD to 1300AD’.
‘The lost centuries – Man, Scandinavia and Ireland’, will be presented by Sir David Wilson who will discuss archaeological artefacts from the Island including recent discoveries, dating from the 11th and 12th centuries. Dr Peter Davey will follow with his presentation ‘The lost centuries – the English connection’?’, focusing on the kingdom’s international relations, particularly from the mid-12th to the end of the 13th century. Manx National Heritage’s Curator of Field Archaeology Andrew Johnson will conclude the seminar by presenting some of the results of his recent upland survey work in a talk entitled, ‘Lost kingdom, lost landscapes?’.
Due to popular demand for the previous Forgotten Kingdom? lecture series, tickets for the seminar are now available from the Manx Museum Shop.
